God expects His children to bear good fruit.
Psalm 1: 1-3
1. Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2. But his delight is in the law of the Lord: and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
As Christians, we are not to flirt with sin and constantly be around people that can bring us down and make us fall away from a vital relationship with God. In fact, the Bible says that a man is blessed who makes it a point to stay away from anything that could bring him down. The Bible doesn’t stop there and tell us just to stay away from ungodly people, though.
We are also commanded to meditate on God and His Word. He wants us to delight in having a personal relationship with Him. Then when we make the effort to do that, the next verse talks about the wonderful blessings He has in store for us. Deuteronomy Chapter 14 talks about all the blessings the Israelites could have had on a long-term basis had they just put God first in everything they did.
God wants to bless His Children, but He never wants other things to mean more to us than He does. He always wants to be Number One in every way in our lives. When we put Him first, we start to develop a deeper relationship with Him that truly changes our lives.
God always has your best interest at heart when He tells you to do something, so make the decision to trust and prove Him. He desires to give you His Best.
