God wants you to understand His Truth and live in it.
Ephesians 5: 17
Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
unwise (aphron – pronounced af-rone)
mindless, stupid, ignorant, egotistic, rash, unbelieving
understanding (suniemi – pronounced soon-ee-ay-mee)
to put together, to comprehend, act piously, consider, understand, be wise
will (thelema – pronounced thel-ay-mah)
a determination; actively, a choice; specifically, a purpose or decree; passively, an inclination
Paul is encouraging the people at Ephesus to live a pure and holy life before God. He tells them to not be ignorant of the ways of God, but to do their best to comprehend and understand what He says and live in it.
God wanted them above all else to seek and understand His Will for their lives and make the choice to do whatever He wanted them to do. God truly loves obedience and blesses the one who will honor Him by doing it.
