Do Good To and Bless Others Who Don’t Like You!

Choose to bless those that don’t like you.

Luke 6: 27

Love your enemies; do good to them which hate you.

Love – (agapao – pronounced ag-ap-ah-o)

love in a social or moral sense

Present Imperative Active: the action is accomplished by the subject (you) – the imperative mood gives a command – represents action in the NOW

do – (poieo – pronounced poy-eh-o)

to make or do, but has a wide application of meanings. Examples: abide, agree, execute, have purged, fulfil, perform, ordain, provide

Present Subjunctive Active: the action is accomplished by the subject (you) – represents NOW action – makes an assertion about which there is some doubt, uncertainty or indefiniteness – closely related to the future tense where doubt arises because action has not occurred yet.

good – (kalos – pronounced kal-oce)

well, honestly, recover, well morally

them which hate – (miseo – pronounced mish-eh-o)

to detest or love less

The words love and do are verbs with the subject being you. The imperative mood gives a command, so God wants you to do what He says no matter how you feel. Your action is in the present and it is ongoing. He always has a reason for giving you laws to obey, and it is for your own good.

You have to let God take control of your feelings in order to talk well of a person who has done or said something bad about you. He also knows that when you start to pray for that person, he will be able to work in your life to heal the hurt so unforgiveness and hate cannot set in.

God tells you to do these things so you can always keep your heart pure before Him. When you start to see that He always has your best interest at heart, it is easier to do what He says. Don’t ever let yourself be brought down to the level of the other person. Stay on high ground no matter what they do. God wants you to obey His Word rather than act on how you feel at the time.

Feelings can be so powerful that they can keep you from thinking logically. When someone has hurt you, the flesh automatically wants to fight back and get revenge. Often you don’t stop to think that your feelings might be totally wrong as far as the Bible is concerned. It just seems easier at the time to go with the flow of whatever you are thinking.

You must make the choice to not give in to any feelings that cater to the flesh. In the future, then, you won’t have anything to be sorry for.

If you are a Child of God, He loves you more than you could ever imagine. Don’t let others keep you from receiving His Best.

Luke 6: 28

Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

(eulogeo – pronounced yoo-log-eh-o)

speak well of, thank or invoke a benediction upon, prosper, praise

Present Imperative Active: the action is accomplished by the subject (you) – the imperative mood gives a command – represents action in the NOW

them that curse – (kataraomai – kat-ar-ah-om-ahee)

execrate or doom

pray – prosklisis – pronounced pros-klis-is)

earnestly, supplicate, worship

them which despitefully – epereazo – ep-ay-reh-ad-zo)

to insult, slander, falsely accuse
